We want to help you cook well for the rest of your life. At the foundation of every meal is a space to prep and care for food, so we made the Foundations Cutting Board.

Why did we make this?

In a world of cheap, disposable kitchen gadgets, we wanted to provide a high-quality, essential item at the core of cooking for yourself every day.

Over the past year, we’ve worked with a family-run woodshop in Dorset, Vermont to design this butcher block-style cutting board from American hardwoods.

Limited Quantity

To ensure the highest quality, we’ve only made a limited batch of 100 walnut and 500 maple boards. Made in the USA.

We’ve also made a small batch of wood care kits, which we highly recommend applying before first use to seal the wood.

• Natural wood products require care, but with regular maintenance, these boards can become a family heirloom.

Intentional design

American Maple & Walnut hardwoods offer lifetime durability with edge-grain construction that’s friendly on knives. The 1.5” thickness prevents warping or splitting over time like thinner wooden boards. Chamfered edges & recessed handles make for comfortable flipping, rotating, and transporting. The reversible design means you can designate one side for poultry, meat, and fish.

Generous work surface

There's nothing worse than diced vegetables falling off the sides of a tiny cutting board. 24x18x1.5” is the optimal size cutting board for the average home cook. The ample workspace can fit horizontally or vertically onto a standard counter for contained prep. We’ve specifically omitted a juice groove to optimize space and make wiping the board clean much easier.

Care kits available

Our wood care kit will help you protect your board and other wood products for years to come. The fine-grit sanding sponge & conditioner makes refinishing and revitalizing easy. With regular conditioning, your cutting board can develop a near-watertight seal and last a lifetime.
